New page

I have some little balsa airplanes from Gravity works. I want to convert one of them to an RC plane for Lauren.

I want 3 channel control: speed, pitch and roll. It can't yaw. Basic rc circuit for the controller.

Then it needs a receiver. A prop, motor. I'm not sure what I'll do for control motors; I'm not sure how feasible tiny servos are. I might do tiny linear actuators, they should be pretty easy, but pitch and roll will only have three states each.

I found some pre-built boards on eBay, that may be the way to go. But...meh, a little pricey and I couldn't find a transmitter.

http://hackaday.com/2012/10/18/27-mhz-transmitterreceiver-pair-made-with-555-timers/

Infrared may be a good option; cheaper and easier.

I was able to find tiny servos as low as 2G for around $4. And it's housed, so I may be able to lighten it a little more. There are a lot of dc prop motors at 20mm or 14mm, some even ship with props.

For reference, a quarter weights 5.67g and a penny weights 2.5g
