Modular Construction TA
Walls
Wall panels will be a standard size. They will be affixed to the frame so they can be removed. I can start by simply using drywall. Then, over time, I can replace them with simple wood panels. The ultimate goal is to have CNC cut wood carvings.
This design allows easy access to wires and pipes behind the walls. It also allows for a panel to be replaced if it is damaged. Also, damaged panels can be worked on in the shop instead of in place. And the panels can be replace for purely aesthetic reasons.
I would even like the studs to be modular. I could in theory, take down the panels, pull up the studs, move them and change the walls in a large portion of the house. This would also involve moving electrical and possibly plumbing, but it could be cool.
Floors
The floor is also a sort of panel design. The main structure of the floor will form a grid and the floor boards will fill in the cells. But any one section can be removed.
The reasoning is similar to the walls, easy to repair and replace. Also, it opens up large access to the basement to raise and lower larger objects.
The studs will be locked in with a sort of dovetail.
