In the past I've looked at 3D Game Development and specifically Java 3D with out much success. I'm beginning to see several options for using Python, my research will be documented here.

Engines

Panda3D

https://www.panda3d.org/

All-in-one, seems very promising.

Ogre

Feature rich, perfomant 3D engine. Documentation is a little lacking, but the core Ogre engine (C++) is one of the major 3D engines. 64bit seems to have some issues. I would like to use this eventually, but perhaps not to start.

Bullet

The standard physics engine.

Tools & Libraries

= PyInstaller

http://www.pyinstaller.org/

Creates single-file executables. This will be necessary for distribution.

Multithreading

This will be necessary, but it gets weird. Be careful because the GIL, I need real multi-core concurrency.
