The drawer slide is held in place by magnets, ~4. Their poles are aligned with magnets hidden in the lid. To open the box, remove the lid, set the box on top (correctly aligned). I expect the magnets will still bind, so you'd have to push the drawer in, but then it should pop out.
Magnets - magnetic mechanisms in the drawer line up with pieces of iron in the lid. The lid will fit just under the box. To open, place the lid under the box sideways, push in the drawer and slide. This will slide 3 catches, upon release, the drawer will slide open. To close, push the drawer in, and slide the opposite way.

A box with a secret drawer in the bottom. I think Alex would really like this.

V1

The underside of the box will have a skirt, the two sides of the skirt can slide. When they are in place, they prevent the end skirt from depressing. Slide them back, depress the end and it pushes a hidden spring allowing the drawer to slide out (pushed by a spring).

V2

Magnets - magnetic mechanisms in the drawer line up with pieces of iron in the lid. The lid will fit just under the box. To open, place the lid under the box sideways, push in the drawer and slide. This will slide 3 catches, upon release, the drawer will slide open. To close, push the drawer in, and slide the opposite way.
