I'd love to be able to do SMD work, but it terrifies me.
To make this manageable I'd like to setup a stereo-microscope and (I forget what these are called) a mechanism to reduce my movement. I think I would need tweezers, a soldering iron, solder and one or two probes, just to hold components down.
It would be a good project to build a micro mill to cut PCBs from copper clad boards. But it would need to work and a very tiny scale. Something like a 0.01" end mill. I would need to cut a copper clad board, then a paste stencil, then put the whole thing in a reflow oven.
