Build and tune the wood gas generator.

Base parts for the system
* Square tubes
* bar stock
* power cube (1 or 2?)
* hydraulic motors (2-4)
* hydraulic actuator
* differential gear
* tires
* steering mechanism (should be a kit, but adjustable width and offset)

The goal is to be able to construct
* tractor and excavator attachemnt
* earth processing equipment
* ceb press

Build and tune the wood gas generator.
Probably also want some sort of small tractor.

The goal is to build a 5'x5' shed. This will give me experience with making and laying bricks, capping them with a bond beam, building trusses, attaching them and attaching roofing. For this part I may skip milling the lumber myself because of the long dry time. I can purchase lumber and move quicker.
Probably a 10'x10' raised foundation construction. This will house the batteries and during early construction I can sleep here.

* Prepare bricks and lumber
* Dig out foundation and rat wall
* Pour foundation
* build walls
* bond beam
* build trusses
* hoist and attach truss
* sheeting for roof
* waterproofing for roof
* aluminum roof

I should probably put in one window and a door for practice.

#Water systems (this can be done before land)
##Water tank
##Build or order WOM
##Water pressure
##Send it out to a garden hose
#Build a root cellar with tire walls (make it north facing to keep it really cool)
##Lay tires
##Dig it out
##Cement the inside
##Put on roofing

=Pre-Tires=
#Find a source for tires and cardboard
#Do this (http://www.instructables.com/id/low-tech-3d-scanner-for-your-building-site/) to get a site survey
#Build work shed (2x4 frame with plywood walls. Simple) if there isn't one already
#Start collecting used water and glass bottles (do we need this?)
#Electrical?
##Do we have access to electricity? Yes - don't do anything now, No - connect to grid, or setup solar.
#Stake out footprint
#Backhoe
##Dig down below frost line
##Pile dirt around footprint (for later use pounding tires)
#Bury fireplace inlet
##Tamp and level ground

=Tires=
#Get tires and organize by size (or get all the same size tires)
#Layout and fill first row of tires. For each tire (here's a great video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cer3WKTOcy8):
##Position tire offset from previous row and 1" back
##Place cardboard in the bottom of the tire
##Screw the cardboard and tire in place (screw into previous row)
##Fill with dirt
##Pound dirt with sledge hammer
##Check level
##Add more dirt and repeat
##Its very important that each tire is level.
#Place drainage pipes - (I had it wrong, these are cooling pipes, which may not be necessary)
#Second row
#Third row
#Place thermal wrap
#Remaining tires and thermal wrap
# 3-4 weeks before tires, buttresses and stem wall are done, order the trusses
#Concrete buttresses
#Set the anchor bolts in the top tires and fill them with concrete
#After the concrete has dried, cover the tires in 2mil plastic, staple in place
#Place top plate of wood on tires (Vol.1 p102)

=Framing=
#Stem wall
##Dig stem wall trench
##line with plastic
##Build rebar cage
##Place rebar and Pour concrete
#Place support beams (in line with front of tires)
#Place roof supports
#Frame windows
##Beams should be in place above and below windows
##Place and square wood between each window (make sure it's square, can't check this enough times)
##Put in wood for windows with operable opening
##Put notching planks in place to hold window
#Deck roof (use screws not nails)
#Place skylights

This is intended to be a detailed guide to how we will build our Earthship.

Pre-Fabrication

Build and tune the wood gas generator.

Probably also want some sort of small tractor.

Buy Land

Not much to say, but this is going to be a long, painful process.

Power

Get the wood gas generator on site and get solar setup. This is necessary to power the tools for everything else.

Shed

Probably a 10'x10' raised foundation construction. This will house the batteries and during early construction I can sleep here.

Greenhouse

Moving in will take years, but I can setup a greenhouse and start extracting value in a few months.

Workshop

Polebarn construction.
