Dad really likes his flight simulator. The Microsoft Flight Simulator (soon to be Microsoft Flight) provides APIs to connect to. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526983.aspx) I could pull these out, connect to an Arduino (or a few) and build a full flight pod. UPDATE: Microsoft Flight is now released, research can begin.

Dad really likes his flight simulator. FlightGear looks really good.

I may want to try using FlightGear or X-Plane.

Computer

Needs to be a decent rig, but it could be fairly small, built right into the pod. I would like to do 3 monitors out so that there can be a main window and two side windows.

Speakers - decent 5.1 speakers will do a lot for this project.

Controls

Pod

It would need to fit in the basement. Basic 2 axis rotation. Need to pull the force vector from the game (or calculate it) and rotate the user so that they are facing that direction.

Actuators
