It looks like the speaker will be made of thin spruce, Maple could also work. I'm not quite sure how to do that, but my gut reaction is to make my own 2ply sheet. Cut thin strips of ply and glue them up so that one layer runs perpendicular to the other. I think I'm shooting for less than 1/8th inch, so I'd probably cut the veneer to just under that and sand it down after the glue up. | It looks like the speaker will be made of thin spruce, Maple could also work. Another approach could be to make thin wood veener and epoxy it to fiberglass. This will give it a clean wood look, but with the rigidity of a composite material. https://www.amazon.com/Bondo-20128-Fiberglass-Cloth-sq/dp/B002JRGOT8/ | |||

This would be a fun build
- Bluetooth receiver module:
- 2 x Audio Amplifier Module
- 2 or 4 x Audio Exciter : https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-daex25fhe-4-framed-high-efficiency-25mm-exciter-24w-4-ohm--295-224
Put the electronics in a box, the speakers are based on this so 2 or 4 speaker panels.
Separate Receiver
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Apn7_QybNo
- Needs separate amps
Integrated
Has 2 50W channels. Probably plenty and simplifies the project.
Structure
Regardless of the other details this is going to have a base and the speakers. The base will mount the electronics but it also provides support for the speakers which are suspended.
I'd like to do it as one sheet with the speakers spaced meaningfully across. But it may make more sense to do it as either 2 or 4 pieces.
