I need to plant tomatoes soon and I've had issues with this in the past. This year I want to build a small Arduino based temperature controller.
Use an RTC module and an Arduino. The RTC module will wake the Arduino every 10 minutes. If the temp is too low, it will turn on a small heater. It will also check the time and turn the light on or off as needed.

Logic is pretty simple. Take a measurement, if the temp is too low, turn on the heater and fan. The heater runs for 3 seconds, the fan for 5.
The heater can be pretty simple, just run a few volts through a power resistor and blow a small fan over it.

The heater will just be a mass of resistors. They shouldn't need to put out a lot of heat to be effective.
The light is a bit more of a challenge because I need a latching power relay. I also need a way to check the state of the light, not hard, but there's a few ways to do it.

I already have the light for this. I'll arrange a wall around this made of insulation - I think I have enough scrap. If not, cardboard should provide decent insulation.
