Arco Builder
Kind of a sim-city game, but rather than building the city, you're building the arcology.
Basics
You start with a flat area of ground and some funds. You can plan an upgrade and then hit execute and it will be carried out, but it will take time.
The game will simulate workers and residents.
Architecture
The building has to be sound. I'll need a rough model for beam loads.
A lateral beam has leverage issues, the farther from a vertical support, the less weight it can hold.
Columns just have simple limits.
You can slip into an architect view and see how close to the beams limits you are.
Zoning and Renting
Spaces can be zoned as public, residential, commercial or industrial. You can also set different policies. You can put a space up for sale, but then you need to buy it back to modify it. Or you can rent space. You can set utility policies.
Utilities
- Electricity
- HVAC
- Heating
- Cooling
- Treating
- Water
- Tap
- Hot
- Purified
- Sewage
- Gas
- Communication
- Copper
- Fiber
You can purchase utilities from the grid or generate them yourself.
You can instal meters at different points. These can be used to set the rates for rentals. For instance, installing a monitor for a floor would let you charge the whole floor based on average use. Putting one on each apartment would allow you to charge for exact usage.
Systems
Rather than plug-n-play components, I want there to be simple components that the user has to wire up. So you have to plan exactly where the power lines will go, and they have to be correctly rated. You need to have circuit breakers or when there's too much current, it will start a fire.
Solar
You can buy solar cells. Their power output will have a half life of 20 years, they will also be effected by the time and season.
You can also get a solar concentrator to raise the temperature of water.
Both of these must be on the roof to work.
Steam Turbine
You can run steam pipes (must match PSI rating) to a turbine and get electricity and hot water out.
Land
You can buy more land. The cost of land around your arco depends on the balance. If the number of jobs and residents is in balance, land will be cheap.
