I really like the look when the spine and corners are done in a different leather than the rest of the cover.

I like the foil embossed look. I think I could make custom stamps from aluminum. At some point, I'll get a letterpress type set. There are also some decorate blocks available.

I've seen some books that will have a metal decoration on the cover, which I like but it looks like they would not fit on a shelf. But I saw one with a raised boarder so that the metal icon sat lower than the boarder. http://www.jetpens.com/blog/fountain-pen-paper-recommendations/pt/730

Poplar is generally used for the boards when real wood is used. Jade 403 is a popular glue, so is Lineco.

Book Ideas

Anything from Gutenberg.

I'd like to do a series of classic Comp Sci papers.

I could put together the Ultimate Programmer Handbook and print that.

Journals are an obvious one with sections for months, weeks and days.

Notebook

For lined pages, putting a small regular break in the lines, and possible a small dot between the lines, it can be easily converted to a grid. About 1/8" from the right, there should be a vertical line. This creates a series of small boxes along the right, filling these in provides a "tagging" system.
