Candy Factory
Collaborative game, needs to be very mobile friendly.
Everyone gets one part of production chain:
- Farm
- Plant
- Packaging
- Market
Each has tasks that need to be performed (and in particular, need to be babysat). There is also a transportation network and money.
The farmer will produce things like sugar, peppermint, chocolate. They have to choose what to plant in each field and when to harvest. There are trucks that come in 3 sizes that can move goods. So the farmer chooses a truck (that's at the farm) chooses what to load onto it and sends it to the plant. The plant moves the truck to a bay and unloads it's contents into a tank. Tanks can mix and heat ingredients to follow a recipe. A factory has 4 tanks that can mix and move things around. Tanks can also unload onto trucks.
Materials from the plant get sent to packaging where they are processed into candies. The plant also needs raw ingredients from the farm (peanuts, walnuts). They choose what candy to make on what line. They also need to manage where resources are placed so that each line has access to them. Packaging will have 3 lines, 12 resources positions:
O X X ========> B X X X ========> B O X X ========> B X X X
Only the two slots with O can move to and from trucks. A crane moves resources internally.
Candy is then transported to market. The market can also only hold a limited number of candies. The prices of candies vary over time. The marketer decides when to sell the candies. The money earned can used to buy upgrades at each of the levels as well as more trucks. But how much money is left at the end is your score.
Trucks take 10 seconds to deliver good. Getting the timing right is critical to everything. Equipment to plant and harvest fields is tied up for a few seconds when operating. Crops take different lengths of time to grow. Getting what's needed to the plant on time is important, they don't need to wait for everything to start a recipe. Some of the highest earning recipes take many ingredients and a long time to make (~45 seconds). Moving things around in packaging so the lines are always running is important. And choosing what is on each line. And finally, timing the market is important.
