Compost

I've had a compost pile functioning for more than 10 years. However, I think I need to rebuild it soon.

The tumbler is falling apart so I should either buy a new one or build a new one. Though I may be able to just patch what I have. Not sure.

I'd like to upgrade the pile. I'd like to dig it out, level it and put down bricks, pavers actually on a layer of plastic. I have plastic now, but when I'm digging I tear it up and I've had to replace it a few times. I also need to replace the perimeter. This time I think I'll use bricks. I'd also like to divide it into 2 piles to alternate maturity.

Leaves

I haven't done our leaves in a few years. I probably won't again until we hit retirement. I would like to try just raking them into a pile and mixing in compost. See if I can keep things going enough that they actually break down over the winter. If I have 2 piles, it will be easy enough for them to sit for a 1.5 years.

I could modify the lawn mower to act as a mulcher. Or I could probably make a decent one mounted in a plastic bucket. I would need a motor. I could pull one out of one of the leaf blowers.
