Desktop
These are the notes for updating my desktop
Installing OS
Use Unetbootin to create thumbdrive. There's a graphics issue that won't let it boot if all 4 monitors are plugged in. Unplug (hdmi) all but the main monitor.
Install windows first, but make sure bios is set to boot to whatever disk you're installing windows on.
Using "Grub Customizer" once everything is installed worked well.
Nvidia
This is always a pain on linux.
I got mosaic mode working at one point, but then I couldn't move things between the screens. On Cinnamon, I could only get 3 screens working with mosaic.
I think I need to go in and manually edit the xorg file. Make sure to save this when you get it working.
using xserver-xorg-video-nouveau produces "could not set hte configuration for crtc 64"(GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._gnome_2drr_2derror_2dquark.Code2), but gets 3 monitors working pretty well. Maybe this?
Graphics card is: EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1461-KR GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card and I do have the SLI bridge in place.
I'm linking this just because it has an xorg example.
Also dkms which I'm trying now, will see if it works.
try
sudo apt-get libcuda1
and
sudo nvidia-xconfig --sli=On
note On is capitalized, not sure if that matter.
Helpful Commands
Often, the menu becomes unreachable, so being able to open things from the terminal is helpful.
- gnome-session-quit : logout
- nvidia-settings
Firefox
Crashing when I drag tabs

Rebuild : Order placed 2017-05-17
Minor clusterfuck. Won't boot, beep codes. Need to update bios to support processor.
Placing memory in either of the rightmost 2 results in beepcodes. Repeats 5 short 1 long.

Motherboard: Supermicro MBD-X11SAT-O Manual

So maybe I could get this and just use it to upgrade the BIOS.
Making Boot Disk
Used "Rufus" on Windows.
Replace Motherboard
While I hate to flush $290, the more time I sink into this, the more stress and the longer the parts sit, the less valuable the motherboard actually is.
