Dungeon Game
This is for a board game. Meant to be D&D-ish, but without a dungeon master.
Basic Structure
The game has 3 piles of tiles. Tiles are hexagons. The first pile is mostly 80% open (20% walls), with lots of loot drops and some small monsters, and all of the vaults. The second pile is 50/50 open to wall. Some loot, some all the big monsters and a few small monsters. The last pile is 80% walls and a lot of small monsters.
Big Monsters
There are a few types of big monsters. When a boss tile is drawn, a random boss is selected from the deck. This will determine it's base trait. Two secondary trait cards will be drawn and given to that monster.
Monsters
- Fire Demon: Does 2 fire damage, when it rolls a 1, it will shoot a fireball at the nearest line-of-sight player, doing 1 fire damage.
- Giant Spider: When it rolls a 1, it spawns a small spider.
Secondary Traits
- Fast: on a 20, moves 2
- Thick skin: Immune to arrows
When a big monster is killed it drops 1 loot, 1 armor or weapon and 5+D20 copper.
On it's turn, someone rolls a D20 for the monster. It then moves towards the closest character.
Small Monster
Simple, does 1 damage, moves 1 tile per turn toward closest player. Drops 1 loot on death.
Loot
- Roll D20 for copper
- Health potion (restore 1 health)
- Speed potion (move 3 tiles in 1 turn)
- Immunity (take no damage for 1 turn)
- Teleport scroll (teleport self or anything on adjacent tile to start, end or teleport tile)
- Fireball scroll (casts a fireball doing 1 fire damage to something line of sight)
- Dexterity Scroll (2 attacks in one turn)
Silver
5 copper = 1 silver
5 silver = 1 gold
Armor is worth 1 gold
Tiles
When a player moves, if there are any empty adjacent tiles, they draw enough to fill the gaps. All tiles are either a wall or an open tile. If possible, wall tiles must be placed so they connect.
Vaults
Vaults are special, pre-set tile configurations. They have a specific tile in the deck. This helps the game open up more at the beginning. The vault tile is placed on the board, and one of the entrances to the vault must connect. More tiles can be drawn to accommodate this, but only if absolutely necessary.
Weapons
Each player starts with a weapon of their choice, but with no special abilities. Each weapon has a different hit rate. Rolling a 20 is always a critical hit. A player can attack once in a turn.
Ranged weapons will have a hit around 10 (7-15). Rolling above that allows them to hit anything line of sight for 1 damage. A critical hit does 2 damage.
Melee weapons have a low hit, around 5 (0-7). They do 2 damage on hit, 4 damage on anything over 2x hit and 6 damage on critical.
Game Types
Dungeon
Everyone is for themselves, the goal is to make it out alive with a certain amount of treasure. Players can trade if they are adjacent. No one can attack each other in the starting vault. If a player dies, they drop their loot and go back to the start with their original weapon.
Vs
Players form two teams. The first team to kill an opponent wins, or the team to make it out with the most treasure wins.
Campaign
Players vs The Dark Lord.
An overworld is generated. Each tile on the overworld is a dungeon. Players must kill a specific boss in each dungeon. Every player death give the Dark Lord a bonus (making all monsters stronger).
