- Non-salient pole
- Uses both attractive and repulsive forces
Motor Types
- IM
- Induction machine/motor, inverter driven
- RSM
- Reluctance synchronous machine, inverter driven
- PMSM
- Permanent magnet synchronous machines
Switched Reluctance Motor
This may be the one to build. Simple construction, rotor is just made of low carbon steel.
There's a lot of questions about how to construct and drive them:
- best material for rotor (low carbon steel, but what kind)
- best material for stator (ferrite?, steel?)
- hall sensor vs back EMF vs optical encoder
How does hysteresis play into this? What does the flux look like in the rotor? Eddy currents?
