Electronics Kit

Just a theoretical project right now, no real intention of pursuing it, but I want to get some notes down to clear my head.

A beginners electronics kit that goes from the basics to the advanced. The kit includes the parts needed to build basic tools along the way, getting users familiar with concepts, schematics, breadboarding and soldering.

The first project would be to assemble a basic rasPi computer. The kit would include a small LCD, keyboard/mouse and pre-programmed SD card. The card would have all the tools and lessons needed (along with an OS).

We can also include programming tutorials on the RasPi. The software can automatically track progress and present lessons.

Assorted

  • breadboard
  • jumpers
  • wire cutters

RasPi

  • RasPi ($25)
  • LCD ($30)
  • SD card ($10)
  • keyboard/mouse ($10)
  • Power ($5)
  • earbuds ($3)

Additional Features

Initially, the rasPi will be used as the all-in-one tool; multi-meter, oscilloscope. Later, we can build dedicated devices for these purposes.

Power Supply

  • LM2575T
  • 11DQ06 (Schottky Rectifier)
  • 2 100uF
  • 150uH
  • 2000 uF
  • 20 uH
  • 1.1kOhm
  • 50kOhm Pot
  • Wall wart
  • Plug
  • Project Box
  • perf board

Soldering Iron

We may be able to include a cheap soldering iron and have an upgrade project, needs research. Thermocouple seems the way to go, fairly cheap and can handle high heat.

Should also build a fume extractor.

Speakers

Build speakers and an amp for raspi.
