I've made a few attempts at Freelancing with various levels of success. Freelancing management is an art unto itself. Here is what I've learned I need to do to keep a project organized.

I need to be upfront about when I'm available. This needs to happen down to the hour.

Be clear about what I need to work.

Get a solid starting point. I should be understand the development environment, source control and all other technical aspects. Schedule A LOT of time up front to get oriented.

Schedule time to learn a technology. If they don't want to pay someone to learn something they shoud hire someone that knows it.
