Furniture

For now, I'm focusing on small projects - mostly boxes. But eventually, I'd like to try my hand at making furniture. This page is meant to look at what I could make and how it would profit.

The basic profit goal is $30/hr + materials.

Live Edge Tables

These go for a lot - they start around $1000 and many exceed $5000. I need to check out the price of lumber the next time I'm at LL Johnson, but I think it was around $500. So even a $2000 piece would leave me 50 hours to work. I'll need to experiment with polyurethane before I try one.

Chests

Well made chests go for upwards of $3000. I'd guess they have about $300 in material cost, so 90 hours.

Beds

These go for $2000-$5000. I think something similar to the one I already built out of nicer wood could end up at the higher end. There's more lumber, so let's say $600 in materials, sells for $4000, that leaves about 110 hours.

Wall Art

Pieces of wood art go for $1000-2000. Material cost wouldn't be too high, maybe $100, so even at the lower end, I'd have 90 hours.
