Stepper Motors
Starting this, but it will eventually hold all my stepper notes.
Tag Team Driver
Most of the stepper drivers I see have very little functionality and are kind of expensive. Using a microcontroller is cheap, but it can mess with the timing because the chip can't receive instructions and run them at the same time. I'd like to try building a "tag-team" setup. Two ATTINY8 ($1.20) controllers where one is set to read and one is set to write. The read chip is always ready to read. When not reading, it tries to send. The write chip is the exact opposite, it's default action is write, but it's not writing it tries to read. The idea is that by coupling these two, they form a buffer. I need to do the calculations though and see how many steps through put this has (at an individual step rate) and make sure that's fast enough.
The other idea I had was to use a ram chip and write the instructions there and have the write IC read from the ram chip when it can.
