- Cabinets/bar
- vinting
- electric keyboard
The space should be usable for social gatherings. Especially game night.
Exercise
The designated area needs to be just large enough to hold the equipment in storage. Need to test this by folding up the rowing machine and bench. Get dimensions.
I need a storage solution for the plates. I should think about how to make setup faster.
While it's really more closely associated with my computer, the walking treadmill will be setup here as well. I should have some sort of stand that Lauren can use but also allow me to bring my computer there.
Desk
This will be a many-in-one. The desk itself will be built as a hand tool work bench. The spot where it's parked against the wall will have storage for electronics. I can use it as either an electronics bench or small wood project bench in place. By pulling it more to the center of the room I can do larger wood projects.
See Electronics Bench.
This is primarily for electronics, but I also want to be able to do paper work here.
White board
Near desk, large ferromagnetic whiteboard. I'll have thin polycarb sheets with magnets that can be moved around for layering.
Computer Gantry
The monitors are about 4' across. This will be Ultimate Workstation V2.
Two beams run almost the 22' length. A perpendicular beam runs along them. The computer support slides along this. The vertical support should not interfere with my legs in the chair. The gantries need to lock, but their movement will be manually (at least initially). I'll also add a swivel to the top, which also needs a lock. The computer height and angle will still be motor controlled.
This setup allows me to move the computer to the treadmill, chair or over by the workbench.
I need a way to run power.
Construction is tricky. Long rails will be 16', built in 4 8' sections. Use temporary bracing to assemble this into one large piece and check that the width is exact the whole length. I can use rope attached to the bracing to get the structure roughly in place, then use screws to attach the rails. Then removing the bracing. The races can be built ahead of time, but the two races will not be connected until the rails are in place.
TV Area
TV will go back up. 2 chairs and a small table. Since this will be kind of in the middle of the room, I want to be able to move them out of the way easily. This can open up room for exercise. I can put my old camera up on the TV and use that for video calls.
Storage
- Closet area, may make more sense to rotate this as depth isn't an issue
- knex/lego: I'd like better division for knex
Office supplies
- envelopes/stamps/checkbooks
- writing: one type of pen, one bulk pencil, eraser, sharpie, white out
- notebooks
- binders
- paper
- LL lined
- LL graph
- LL half page
- note cards
- post its
- 3 hole punch
- stapler/staples
- batteries
I like the sterlite bins I've been using, I'd like to make a rack to hold these.
I want a temperature controlled cabinet for wine. Should hold 2 or 3 batches.
Bookshelf
12x90
I should reoranize this in my office. It can be used for some storage.
Design
I like the board and batten walls.
Directed lighting seems to matter.
It can be delayed, but putting up fake stone on the fireplace would be really nice.
On one wall I can put up the video game manuals, possibly get more. I'd also like to get some blueprints to put up. MeloPrints has some good ones, so does Turnip Designs.
One interesting way to go would be very minimalist formulas:
- Eulers Formula: ei*π + 1 = 0
- Ohms Law: v=ri; p=vi
- Black and white mandlebrot with the equation
Lighting
I want to remove the ceiling lighting and instead add a wall sconce to every other panel. This is partially where the posters come in, they will be mostly white and reflect light back into the room.
I think the design is going be simple curved wood with thin polycarbonate inside. I'll sand the poly to make it translucent.
Ceiling
Should be bright and reflective to avoid feeling cramped.
