I noticed on my Linux machine that if I change the image that is being used for the desktop, the desktop updates pretty quickly.

I would like to leverage this and write a python app that runs (about every 5 minutes) as a cron job to update the desktop with relevant data.

weather
time of day (remember, resolution is not going to be great)
