Interior

Wood Framing

We both like wood framing, but I think I would prefer semi-finished beams to timber rounds. I'd really like to do steam bent laminations to forassm archways.

Lauren does not like knotty pine.

Colored Glass

There are many ways to do this. The initial inspiration was bottle walls. But it could be stained glass or possibly something like epoxy with crushed glass.

This could be effective in cutting down on the light penetrating into the living areas.

A technique to try would be to get colored bottles, remove the top and bottom, cut the remaining cylinder in half then get it hot enough to just flatten it. I wouldn't need to get the glass molten for this.

Floors

See Earthship Panel Construction. One consideration is that I'd like us to be able to stay here well into our old age. To help with this, I'd like the floor to be suspended on stiff wood springs.

Exterior

Tower

I'd like the house to mostly be on one floor, but I kind of like the idea of a tower.

Tiny House

While this is not intended to be a tiny house, I do want to take advantage of those concepts. Spaces should be multi functional. Furniture should be able to move or transform to fulfill multiple purposes through the day and year.
